About Us
Mission Statement

South King County Breastfeeding Coalition
“The South King County Breastfeeding Coalition desires to honor and recognize retail businesses, public agencies and employers in King County, Washington, who are “breastfeeding-friendly,” who welcome breastfeeding mothers and babies in their establishments, or who provide lactation support programs for employees returning to work. Businesses and agencies chosen to be included in this resource guide will be awarded a certificate and decal as part of World Breastfeeding Week activities this year.

Disclaimer

In the process of putting this book together, we began to realize how many listings in this book do not fully comply with the World Health Organization/UNICEF International Code of Marketing of Breast-Milk Substitutes. After serious deliberation and discussion of the issues involved, we concluded that the most appropriate approach is to provide education regarding the WHO/UNICEF Code and how to follow it. We realize that not many people understand how to implement the Code in their practices, facilities and businesses. To provide ongoing education to the many breastfeeding supporters in King County, we encourage all readers of this book to seek information on the WHO/UNICEF Code and breastfeeding in general. For more information on our continuing programs or to get involved, please email info@breast-friends.org.

Respectfully,
Judy S. Norman, RN BSN IBCLC
